Man crossing street, Lisbon 2002

There are images that seem improbable once you see them and prompt you to act upon instinct. Some images seem to be part of a dream sequence, which is what this image conveys. There is an element of improbability about this man who's walking a couple of hundred yards away, crossing the street under the glare of the sun. The sunlight makes him stand out and renders him the central element of this unlikely set-piece. The high contrast makes him the target for our eyes and the hill in the background lends the shot a movie-like atmosphere.
