Self-portraits by nature respond to the inner question of who we are and what the hell we are doing here. By here I mean this earth, the neglected planet, and when the question gets loaded with the added dimension of impending doom, real or imagined, the task of self regarding and self analysing becomes more necessary.
That is precisely the question this image tries to address. After having undergone a life-changing operation and with plenty of time available to reflect on these questions, it becomes imperative to think about the window that one day will be no longer, the books that will accumulate dust on the night table, and the indolent light that will illuminate no more the shadowy countenance of our existence.
