This image comes from a colour Ektachrome slide later converted to a 4x5 black and white internegative. It shows one aspect of what was back then the wonderful market in the beautiful mountain town of Otavalo. I visited Ecuador for the first time in 1979 and was enrolled as an all around production hand by Ecuadorean journalist Wilson Ruiz, who was shooting a documentary about immigration to Canada, with particular emphasis on the family nexus of the Ecuadorean people.
