On December 28th, 2004, the world lost one of its most lucid interpreters of photography and life. Susan Sontag was a novelist, essayist and critic of the highest caliber.
This image was taken during her visit to Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, NY, in May 2003, where she was the guest speaker at the commencement address for the graduating ceremonies of that year.
