Susan Sontag In Memoriam

On December 28th, 2004, the world lost one of its most lucid interpreters of photography and life. Susan Sontag was a novelist, essayist and critic of the highest caliber.
This image was taken during her visit to Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, NY, in May 2003, where she was the guest speaker at the commencement address for the graduating ceremonies of that year.

Sandy Sandy

We know the end of the year lends itself to reminisce and sometimes to allow a hint of sadness to come knocking at our doors. That is why many will end this year in our little town on the Southeast Coast of England by remembering, and by having a quiet thought about our Sandy Back, a good friend, a fun human being that was taken from us as we approached the end of 2010. Many in the town of Whitstable will have plenty to say about Sandy. I can only say I will cherish my memories of her good humor and some unforgettable anecdotes shared among us and other dear friends in this neck of the woods.

My Mother Marina

I must say in all honesty that I would not be who I am, what I have been and might yet become, were it not for the tenacious capacity of my mother to look for that extra door that opens beyond the horizon; because of her vision, because of her undying faith in love, because she never ceased believing in the good inherent in humankind.
Here's this shot taken in the summer of 1992 in San Francisco, at the old house in Kansas Street, bringing it all back to my mind on this 25th of November, the third anniversary of her departure to that greener pasture in the afterglow of life.
Bless her memory, bless her heart.

"Having no confidence in my virtues, I proposed to make every defect of mine count"
                                                                                           Edward Dahlberg, "Confessions"

abrazado a mi miedo;
el único navío que poseo.
