Rivalidades

Of all the rivalries in an immigrant community none is as heated, poignant and divisive as the one that the fans display from the edges of the football pitch and the players play out in the field itself. This image is a left-over of my newspaper days when the weekends were dedicated to follow the football matches in the Latin American community. Here, two players from the Uruguay and Peru teams dispute the ball in a silent physical argument that has the grace and strength of a ballet set- piece.
