Alexander, Photographer, Lisbon 2014

Walking through the streets of a foreign town has its rewards. You meet people, you exchange ideas, a beer, trade tips and learn things. I caught this young photographer photographing me as I was photographing a street musician and as a conditioned reflex I asked him if I could also shoot his portrait. He agreed and then after we sat in the grass overlooking the river and traded stories. He showed me a great digital file he had just taken in Israel and brought me back to olden days when I was the one doing all the traveling and all the photographing.

Birthday Self-Portrait at 65

Back Pain, Morning...

Sahara Borja, San Francisco 1988

Twenty six years later after this prescient photograph was taken in San Francisco, my daughter is ready to embark in the most exciting adventure of her career as a photographer.
She will investigate and she will write. She is most privileged. God bless her ship, and her Hasselblad.
Never more proud of her than at this stage of her life.

Thank God for Polaroids

All of a sudden there I was...

And there I was, being channelled into a Texas take by Wim Wenders by one of my students, the talented Miss Hollie Pain, all done in a couple of seconds by just standing in front of her camera.
The Lord of light and darkness works in mysterious ways.
